Update: The Morning after Snow

Standard
frozen car

frozen car

just think of ice kacang shavings – not in a bowl but on the car! some of the snow was stiff on the window, ice lah… and we had nothing to scrape it off. since it was our first time experience, we didn’t know what to do with it.

that morning it was this situation; ‘there are times when you needed one particular thing the most and you just can’t find it/just don’t have it, but all the while it has always been there when you don’t need it’. we needed a scraper badly, and all the while we had it in our house back home… IN MALAYSIA! hah! so Ayl just used a plastic thingy and pushed off the snow from the front and back windows.

it wasn’t good enough when we got into the car as the front windshield was still covered, so he turned on the wiper… which we later found out from Yooni that that was a bad thing to do coz it will spoil the wiper blades. woops! too late…

snowing and windy

snowing and windy, good thing Arielle had her snowsuit on. my winter coat my ex-colls bought for me from Winter Time is really good; lightweight and very warm!

we wanted to go to the Christmas bazaar which happens only once a year, organized by IWCB. there will be food from different countries and souvenirs as well. but when we got there, the line for the ticket was so long; and since it was freezing, we decided we didn’t want to queue and to join Soo and Yooni for lunch.

we ended up in Vienna for Japanese food; highly recommended!! Tenmaki (name of the shop)- really fresh seafood! Soo ordered and ordered and ordered, and she kept telling me the portions are small, and when all the dishes came, they had to be placed on the stove/hotplate for teppanyaki. LOL! it was a lot of food, but we finished everything, it was really very yummy! best Jap food i’ve tasted and with the widest spread as well.

Making New Friends

Standard

i’m sitting at the desk now looking at the falling snow outside the window just beside me. hmmm… i wonder if this is how it looked like when God provided the manna from heaven to the Isrealites. it’s really different here with 4 seasons; and i thank God i get the chance to experience them.

anyways, last week was eventful; i got to meet some new people and so did Arielle – she met some friends of her age.

on tuesday (18/Nov), Annete came over with her daughter Chantall. we met in church before this but never really talked to each other before. then when we did, we decided to get together because she stays not very far away from our place. Annete is local Slovakian and her husband Kevin an American. they’ve got 2 daughters, Hannan is 6 and Chantall is 16months old – just 2 months older than Arielle.

we had lunch together and found there were a lot of things to talk about. we had quite a few things in common being a stay home mom, and because of the common ground there are many things we could relate to each other though we come from different background and culture. i feel that both she and her husband are really intellectual people. for example; she reads MicroEconomics during her free time to keep her sane!! er… while i read thrillers, novels and biographies. she studied Hebrew and Arabic (including the Quran) when she was in Jerusalem and is now interested in Mandarin, which she says is the top most difficult language in the whole world according to statistics. i don’t know where she gets her motivation from.

we got together again yesterday over at her place for lunch. here are some pics…

then on Friday (21/Nov), a lot more people came. Kaori-san; one of Aylwin’s colleague’s wife organized a get-together at my place for mothers and their babies. they brought pizza, salad and roast chicken and a lot of juices and tidbits. All of them Japanese, most of them their husband works in Sony Nitra as well. it was wonderful to have so many people come, all in all 6 guests with 4 babies. suddenly my usually quiet apartment is filled with babies walking and playing and ladies talking and laughing. how nice!! there was only one setback though, most of them don’t speak English very well. since the majority speaks Japanese, i was the only one who couldn’t understand. :P~ blweh…

didn’t get a pic of the tai-kah-che (big sister) Kaori-san who organized this meeting though; she’s camera shy. both Kaori-san and Kaai-san have their children in school so they did not join us. overall, it was nice to meet new people; but too many to people around to get to know one particular person better as there were a lot of moving around. hopefully, i get a chance to know each one of them better – but language would be a barrier for us. had to clean up after all went back, what to do… when you have kids, you’ll have sticky floor and chair and stuff. the more there are, the merrier it gets! but it’s worth it, beats staying alone at home all the time!

The Depth of Christ’s Forgiveness

Standard

Cool song right?

Did you know the singer faked cancer and is (was?) addicted to porn? Because he was part of Hillsong worship team, his position was more vulnerable towards attacks, especially after the above was found out.

But I’m not so concerned with his trangressions, as opposed to the reactions, especially from Christians. I suppose if you googled Mike Guglielmucci, you’d find tonnes of not-so-nice-threads about him and it would be fair to say that some are ready to tie him to the stake and burn him to death. Sure, what he committed was wrong and I’m sure the faith of many was shaken, and the reactions are understandable, but I feel in some ways the forgiveness of Christ that Christians have experienced are not properly reflected upon.

I thought to myself, if I was Mike Guglielmucci and I committed these things, it would be a pretty horrid time to be a Christian. I mean, all my brothers and sisters in Christ out there who are supposed to carry my burdens (Gal 6:1-3) are instead standing up to condemn me, to backstab me publicly (through the media), to make me feel that I’m the lowest scum on earth etc… My goodness, and we wonder why unbelievers don’t want to believe in Christ when they are seeing Christians going at each others throats.

But I am glad to read the comments after the video, to see many Christians able to extend their forgiveness, prayers, understanding, compassion and kindness towards this man. He needs it. In fact, you and I need it. We don’t need people to tell us why we fall (they can do it at counselling), we don’t need people to laugh at us when we fall, we don’t need people to pity us when we fall. We need people to help us get up when we fall, to emphatise with us and be our strength in times of need to move on in life.

Mark 4:23 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

John 8:7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”

2 Cor 2:5-11 If anyone has caused grief, he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you, to some extent—not to put it too severely. The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient for him. Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him. The reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything. If you forgive anyone, I also forgive him. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.

Col 3:12-14 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Have a blessed day ahead. And time for some self-check.

Rantings

Standard

Had an early night after my weekly Man U game (they drew against the Villans btw); the snow and the rushing wind made the aparment very cool and comfortable… heh, all you can think of is sleep after that.

Then I was awaken at 3 something in the morning cos’ the room was getting too warm. The heater was set too high. Anyways, couldn’t sleep after that; contemplating if I should make some Korean ramen in the cold weather.

Arielle has been crying in her sleep these past few nights; not sure what’s wrong though. She’ll just roll on the her bed (sometimes ours) and cry without waking up. I suspect that her gums are paining, but honestly, the crying is making the both of us losing precious sleep (welcome to parenthood!) and patience as well. But everytime you see her innocent face, you just can’t bring yourself to scold her.

And it DID Snow!!

Standard

WARNING: i will be sakai throughout this whole post. :P!

was waiting for it to come falling down in the morning and all of a sudden, Ayl told me it’s snowing! well, it was just snowflakes and it came falling lightly down like small pieces of white cotton flying in the air. it was very cold but i opened the balcony door and held out my hand for some to fall on it, but none did :P~ coz it was too light and the wind was quite strong…

but we got a closer look when we went out; there it was on the grass just outside our apartment entrance. so i grabbed a pic… ehehhee… so sampat!! aiyo, can’t help it lah! my first time ok!

on getting a closer look, it does look like ice-shavings, just like what Ade said in the previous post. can make ice-kacang di. but it was freezing outside; the wind was strong and immediately my hands and ears were cold. need to wear gloves and hat already.

so it was after dinner that i sat down at the pc and was checking FB when eh, why is there so much water on the window sill? oh no… because the weather’s freakin freezing outside, we have water vapor on the inside, like a cold glass of water you know. i took a few pics nevertheless… hehehe… to show you folks what i’m really talking about ma.

it’s a big change from being a working mom to a full-time mom… especially when i have to stay home all day until the weekend comes, and then, i had to depend on Ayl to take me out. being an outdoor & an outgoing person, having no friends to chat and share life with, brought me to a state of utter loneliness. in my mind, i couldn’t find anyone to go to if there was an emergency…IF!

so i became lost and depressed 2 weeks ago; i ask myself questions that took me further down into the hole, but at the same time i struggled to stay focused and positive. it was difficult; but i thank God that He has brought me through it in such a short time. we have only been here for 3 months!! these verses comes to my mind each time i start to ponder and pity myself:-

Philippians 4:6 (NIV) – Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God
